The truth is that most concrete crushers are well made. Regardless of whether or not the crusher is made in China, France, Germany, Austria, Canada or the good ole USA, the machine has to be rugged enough to crush concrete and is most likely a good machine.
Having said this, all machines will require parts over time. Rock crushers and Concrete crushers are in one of the most brutal applications known to man. It’s simply not easy to crush rock, concrete, asphalt, bricks, blocks or stones. In addition, it requires a rather large investment in machinery to get the job done. Knowing that you’re going to invest a great deal of money and time into crushing, you must be cognizant of where you’re getting your parts and service from.
Imagine investing in a McDonalds franchise and not being able to get burgers! if you purchase any machine that is made in a foreign country you will risk not being able to access vital parts. Yes, dealers will promise that they stock all the parts. However, we know this to not be true. During the Covid epidemic, thousands of contractors were not able to access parts made in foreign countries. In addition, most dealers will not stock each and every part for all of the machines they sell. It’s a risk that anyone takes when buying a foreign product.
There are some exceptions, but how will you know? Assuming you are a U.S. citizen and planning to be in business in the U.S.A., buying any machine or product manufactured in the U.S.A. offers you the best chance of accessing parts when you need them. Of course, even “TRUE” US manufacturers can have delays on parts availability. However, there is no doubt that buying American is less risky and your chances of accessing vital parts is much greater. Keep in mind that you’re making a large investment. If you borrow money to fund the investment the lender or bank will most likely not care that your machine is not producing revenue due to a part you’re waiting for. You need to consider this because it is a REALITY.
When crushing rock or crushing concrete you may be generating hundreds if not thousands of dollars in hourly revenue. The last thing you want is to be down because you can’t get parts. Buying American, although not perfect, does mitigate your risk.
When it comes to service, there are many foreign dealers who do a great job! Even the best dealers can’t service a machine that is waiting for a part to be shipped from a foreign country. Your business will suffer if you purchase the wrong machine and cannot get parts or service. Consider what your cost of downtime is. Again, American made is not perfect. We’re talking about minimizing your risk. There’s simply nothing like buying a machine made in the USA when your tolerance for downtime is low. At least you have more access to parts and can speak with the manufacturer if need be.
How do you know if the concrete crusher is made in the USA? The list of rock crusher and concrete crusher manufacturers who claim they are making their machine in the USA is probably larger than it should be. Our suggestion is to TRUST but VERIFY! You should know with 100% certainty if the machine you are buying is actually MADE in the USA, assembled in the USA or just painted in the USA. Ask the manufacturer to send you a live video of the factory in operation in the USA or visit the factory. You’re investing a great deal of money and time in your machinery. You deserve to know the truth about where your machinery is made.
To sum it up, the risk of not having your parts is much greater when the machinery is made in a foreign country. You should consider this and make investment decisions appropriately. After all, your business is on the line.
